We visited Calgary,
Alberta in October, 2007. There is a lot to do in the city and in
surrounding areas. There are a variety of tourist attractions, with
the Rockies just off to the west...and the Badlands just east of
town. Below are some pictures and descriptions of what we
experienced. |

In the picture: Bobsledding, anyone? Here is where the
bobsledders start on their icy journey at Olympic Park. Click to enlarge. |

|
In the picture: When the wind is blowing, the flags at Olympic
Park open up. It is a pretty picture...even on a cloudy day. Click to enlarge. |

In the picture: Heading west on the Trans-Canada Highway ("the
Number 1"), the town of Banff is a major attraction (one and a
half hours from Calgary). This is the train station just
outside of town. Click to enlarge. |

|
In the picture: This is Banff. There are many shops and
restaurants to visit...if you can dodge the construction. Click to enlarge. |
|

|
In the picture: A half hour northwest of Banff is Lake
Louise...supposedly the most photographed lake in the world.
It is picturesque. Click to enlarge. |

|
In the picture: Now for the "wow" factor. If you can manage
the mile or so hike up a fairly steep trail, this is what you
get to see. It is Lake Louise from high above. Click to enlarge. |
